The vast majority of the one million STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) teachers in the US still grade assignments the old fashioned way – with a red pen. Why? Because tablets and laptops are not suitable platforms to administer STEM assignments that rely heavily on equations, graphs and diagrams. A typical STEM teacher sees between 100 and 150 students a day. A single 20 question test generates 2000-3000 questions to grade (with that red pen), and takes anywhere from 4-6 hours to complete. This enormous time burden hampers teacher productivity and shortchanges students when they do not receive graded assignments and teacher feedback in a timely manner. Our unique hybrid solution enables teachers to continue using their existing paper-based assignments, while providing a frictionless way to grade those assignments online in a fraction of the time. This is possible because we ‘solved’ the puzzle of how to quickly and easily transfer completed assignments to the cloud.
