About
Freenters receives licenses directly from educational institutions such as colleges to install printing kiosks or use the institutions’ existing printing infrastructure to provide an ad-subsidized free printing service [Freenters 1.0]. By default, every page that a student user prints at such kiosk has a minimal non-overlapping banner advertisement on the bottom margin of the paper. Students can opt out of the banner ads and still print in paper without ads for free using the Freenters currency that they accumulate by engaging with other forms of advertisements, such as surveys, video ads, and mobile ads. In order to scale faster, Freenters is upgrading the Freenters 1.0 software to develop a Freenters Printer Driver [Freenters 2.0] applicable to personal printers. Users can download the driver and use it to print with banner ads from their personal printers in return for Freenters credits worth 5 cents per page. Freenters 2.0 is expected to launch at the end of July 2015.
