About
Shrtwv was built around the idea that, people, individually and collectively, engage with their surroundings through a number of short and abstract interactions. Each of these interactions carry significant value, not only for the actors involved but for anyone who might witness them. A good example of this is graffiti on a wall. The graffiti can have significant meaning for the person who wrote on the wall and that meaning is never really shared with anyone else. However, any person passing by can stop and appreciate the graffiti and take their own meaning from it and, sometimes, contribute to it. The idea is that, over time, these tiny interactions come to have a huge impact on the people and the world around where they happened. We believe that the ability to extend the reach of these moments is valuable and we built Shortwave to do exactly that (a longer-form piece on the philosophy of shortwave is available at https://medium.com/p/3a7927bc6bc3.
